Chuuk Lagoon is on every wreck diving enthusiast’s “must do” list. The tragic events of Operation Hailstorm were a turning point in the Battle of the Pacific where 12 warships and 32 merchant ships were sank and 275 aircraft destroyed. The lack of strong ocean currents in the protected lagoon have preserved the wrecks and enable recreational divers to explore this impressive area.
